Thiruvananthapuram Division was formed on October 2, 1979. It is one of the six administrative divisions of Southern Railway, with an operational span of 625 RKm and 103 railway stations. Its jurisdiction extends from Vallathol Nagar (Thrissur) in Kerala to Melappalayam (Tirunelveli) in Tamil Nadu. The division is headquartered at Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram.

Shri Divyakant Chandrakar, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) of the 1996 UPSC batch, has held several key positions during his distinguished career, including Chief Engineer (MTP), Central Railway, Deputy General Manager, Central Railway, and Chief Vigilance Officer, Central Railway.
A graduate in Civil Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Raipur, Shri Divyakant Chandrakar has made notable contributions to Indian Railways through his innovative approach and technical expertise. He was conferred with the Railway Board Award for the development of high-speed end-unloading rolled rakes, significantly enhancing the efficiency of transportation and unloading of 260-metre-long rails from Bhilai Steel Plant, SAIL, for track renewal operations.
In addition, he was instrumental in the design and development of special diamond crossings, which have since been successfully implemented in the Nagpur, Bhusawal Divisions etc.

Her previous postings include Senior Divisional Finance Manager (Sr. DFM) in Thiruvananthapuram Division, Deputy Financial Advisor & Chief Administrative Officer (Dy FA & CAO) in the Construction Organisation, Southern Railway, and Director of Postal Accounts (Telecommunications) in the Department of Telecommunications, Kerala Circle.
