A passenger, Ms.Varsha R Jayalakhsmi, travelled from Chennai Central to Ernakulam by Train No.12623 Chennai Central – Thiruvananthapuram Mail on 05th April, 2016.She left her laptop behind at Chennai Central and boarded the train. She realized this only after the train had departed.She immediately informed the matter to her father.
Her father, along with his son, returned to Chennai Central railway station and met the Platform Inspector and explained the matter to him.Mr. Soviet, the platform inspector on duty wasted no time.He swung into action immediately and retrieved the laptop.Furthermore, the platform inspector also arranged to send the laptop through the security guard of Train No.22639 Chennai – Alappuzha express which left an hour later.Due to this timely action, the passenger collected her laptop from the security guard at Ernakulam station the next day.
The family members of the passenger were moved by the efficient action of the platform inspector.They wrote a letter of gratitude and appreciation to Southern Railway.
Upon receiving the letter from the family members of the passenger and coming to know of this incident, Shri Ajeet Saxena, Chief Commercial Manager, Southern Railway appreciated the timely action and sense of customer service of the platform inspector and announced a cash award of Rs.1000 to Mr. Soviet, the platform inspector of Chennai Central railway station to reward his efficiency.
