Southern Railway observes Janjatiya Gaurav Divas
Southern Railway observed Janjatiya Gaurav Divas in commemoration of the 146th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as India marks Janjatiya Gaurav Divas today, 15th November 2022. The day was observed to recall the contribution of this great Indian tribal freedom fighter, for spearheading the tribal movement against the British Raj during India’s Independence movement.
Janjatiya Gaurav Divas is observed to honour the tribal freedom fighters and to re-energise the efforts for the socio- economic development of the tribal regions and communities. Janjatiya Gaurav Divas is a step towards making a resolve to provide basic amenities, employment, education to the tribal people living in remote areas, villages when the country will complete 100 years of independence in 2047. Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu led the celebrations of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas this year.
A host of events marking Janjatiya Gaurav Divas were held all over Southern Railway. Essay and quiz competitions were held for the students of Railway schools in Chennai and Erode. Documentary film on Bhagwan Birsa Munda was screened at Railway School, Erode and a Photo Exhibition was also held at the school. Banners and posters showcasing various tribal oriented welfare schemes and initiatives were displayed at Southern Railway Headquarters and Divisions.
