Southern Railway Celebrates International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was observed in Southern Railway Headquarters’ Office and all the six divisions, workshops and field units with great enthusiasm today 08.03.2022.

On the occasion of International Women’s day, Dr. S. Kalyani, Chief Gynecologist, Perambur Railway Hospital addressed the women employees of Southern Railway Headquarters about Breast Cancer. About 75 women employees attended the session.

Special educative seminar o­n ‘Women Related Health Issues and treatment through Indigenous system of medicine’ was conducted by the Healthcare professionals of Perambur Railway Hospital on 23rd February, 2022 Dr P. S. Geetha (Siddha Consultant), Dr P. Mary Immaculate, (Homeopathy) and Dr. A. Naveena (Yoga and Naturopathy)  delivered guest lectures o­n women-health related topics which was well attended by Women Staff of various departments of Southern Railway Headquarters.

A Women’s Wellness Camp was organised on 5th March 2022 at Headquarters Hospital, Perambur, in which many women Employees participated and benefited.

In connection with Women’s day Celebration, weeklong programmes such as Essay competition, Quiz competition, Anthakshari, Fun games etc., were also held at Southern Railway Headquarters and Divisions.

Out of nearly 12,000 Women Employees in Southern Railway, 29 % women are in the open line comprising Guards, Loco pilots, Points women, Station Masters and Track Maintainers.
