Indian Railways delivers more than 8700 MT of oxygen to the Nation Southern Railway runs Oxygen Express for Tamil Nadu and Kerala

Tamil Nadu received its second loaded Oxygen Express from Rourkela in Odisha with 31.4 MT of oxygen at Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu at 06:00 hours today (15-5-2021). This oxygen express was run o­n top priority and it clocked an average speed of 52.30 kmph. Shri V.Murali Krishna, Loco Pilot/Tiruvottiyur,  Shri N.Ramkumar, Asst.Loco Pilot,  Tiruvottiyur and Shri Chukka Prasad, Goods Guard/Tiruvottiyur are the crew who worked this Oxygen Express in its last lap upto Tiruvallur. “All the signal were green, so we could reach in time at the destination”

With this the total Oxygen delivered for Tamil Nadu is 111.4 MT.

The third loaded Oxygen Express for Tamil Nadu with 2 containers carrying 40 tonnes of LMO dispatched from Tata Nagar (PSTA) siding in Jharkhand is in transit and expected to arrive tomorrow (16-5-2021)

The fourth and fifth loaded oxygen express from Rourkela and Tata Steel Siding, Kalinganagar in Odisha are likely to depart today or in the early hours of tomorrow. The loaded oxygen express from Rourkela will transport 5 loaded tankers with nearly 79 tonnes of oxygen to Tiruvallur. The loaded oxygen express from Tata Steel siding will transport loaded oxygen containers to Inland Container Depot, Tondiarpet in Chennai.

Third empty Oxygen express from Tiruvallur with four empty tankers is to depart today to Rourkela.

Oxygen Express for Kerala

Kerala will receive its first loaded oxygen express carrying 6 Oxygen containers (117.9 tonnes) dispatched from Tata Steel Siding in Kalinganagar, Odisha.  It is expected to reach its detination, Vallarpadam Container Terminal in Kochi around 03.00 hrs tomorrow (16th May 2021)

Indian Railways endeavour to deliver as much LMO as possible in the shortest time possible to the requesting states.

Since the operation of Oxygen Express started Indian Railway has delivered more than 8700 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to various states across the nation by running 139 oxygen expresses.

Oxygen has been delivered by rail to 13 states. So far 521 MT of oxygen has been offloaded in Maharashtra, nearly 2350 MT in Uttar Pradesh, 430 MT in Madhya Pradesh, 1228 MT in Haryana, 308 MT in Telangana, 40 MT in Rajasthan, 361 MT in Karnataka, 200 MT in Uttarakhand, 111 MT in Tamil Nadu, 40 MT in Andhra Pradesh and more than 3084 MT in Delhi.

Railway has mapped different routes with oxygen supply locations an keep itself ready with any emerging need of the States. Tankers to the Indian Railways for bringing LMO are provided by the states.
