Southern Railway COVID vaccination drive Railway Officials to be deputed for Election duty vaccinated
Southern Railway, in co-ordination with Greater Chennai Corporation, organized a special vaccination camp for Railway officials to be deputed for Polling duty at Railway Health Unit facility, NGO Annexe, Chennai Division today, 8th of March 2021. The vaccination drive was started in the presence of Shri John Thomas, General Manager and Shri G.Prakash, Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation , Shri B.G.Mallya, Additional General Manager, Dr. V. Nirmala Devi, Principal Chief Medical Director, Smt.Aruna Nayar, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Shri P.Mahesh, Divisional Railway Manager/Chennai, Shri Ilangovan and Shri Subramaniam, Additional Divisional Railway Managers of Chennai Division, Shri Meganatha Reddy, Dy.Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation and Dr M.S.Hemalatha, City Medical officer, Greater Chennai Corporation.
This is a special campaign for the Railway officials to be deputed for Polling duty. Shri Christopher Pushparaj and Smt. Akila, Staff of Chennai Division were the first railway officials to receive the doses of COVID vaccine. 67 employees of Southern Railway Headquarters and Chennai Division to be deputed for election duty were vaccinated today. Employees will be vaccinated in batches not exceeding 100 per day duly adhering to all COVID safety protocols.
It may be noted that Southern Railway launched the COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign on 21st of January 2021. In the first phase, over 1200 healthcare officials and frontline staff of Southern Railway headquarters and divisions were vaccinated.
Employees of Southern Railway to be deputed for election duty for the oncoming assembly polls in Tamil Nadu and Kerala will be vaccinated in phases at the respective Divisional Hospitals/Health units.
