Southern Railway is observing Vigilance Awareness Week from 27th October, 2020 to 02nd November, 2020.
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), as part of its continuous efforts to involve the public as active participants in ensuring a ‘Corruption Free India’, observes Vigilance Awareness Week every year. The theme for the year is ‘Vigilant India, Prosperous India’.
In Southern Railway, the weeklong Vigilance Awareness Programme began today, the 27th of October, 2020 with an integrity pledge administered by Shri John Thomas, General Manager to the officers and staff of Southern Railway. Officers and Staff of Southern Railway attended the programme through virtual means.
Ms.V.G.Bhooma, Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer, Southern Railway delivered the welcome address.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri John Thomas, General Manager, Southern Railway emphasized the significance of using e-office. He stated that accessing files and documents through e-office would ensure transparency in railway functioning. He also highlighted that adopting Government e-Marketplace (GeM) e-procurement system and Indian Railway-Work Contract Management System (IR-WCMS) would reduce human intervention.
Prof.Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT Madras graced the event as Chief guest and delivered the keynote address. He elucidated the need for fool-proof technological solutions in the smooth functioning of an organization. Later,Prof.Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director,IIT Madras and the Chief Guest of the event released Vigilance Bulletin 2020 through virtual means in the presence of Shri John Thomas, General Manager, Shri B.G.Mallya, Additional General Manager and Ms.V.G.Bhooma, Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer of Southern Railway. The Bulletin is a help guide to the employees on Vigilance related rules and disciplinary procedures adopted in Railways. A technical presentation on ‘Cyber Crime – Threats & Prevention’ by Shri Aditya Nair, an expert in Cyber Security & Innovation Engineer, Rocheston Pvt. Ltd., followed.
An animated video on anti-corruption made by Vigilance Department was also released during the event.
Further, an online quiz is being held to draw the interest of quizzing enthusiasts in Southern Railway. Officers and Staff of the zone can participate in the online quiz conducted by Vigilance Department.
As part of observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, various awareness programmes will be conducted in Headquarters and all the Divisions of Southern Railway during this week.
