All over Indian Railways, “Swachchata Pakhwada” is being observed from 16th September to 30th September 2020. During the inaugural day of the programme, Swachhta pledge was administered to Railway employees at all major and minor Railway establishments. During the campaign, intensive cleaning and sanitization of stations, trains, tracks, colonies and other railway establishments is being carried out with all precautions like use of Masks, sanitisers etc, as well as Social Distancing in view of Covid-19. During this period, Railways will focus on cleanliness of Stations, tracks, yards, colonies, depots, etc and also create awareness for keeping the railway premises clean and safe.
During the 2020 Swachchata Pakhwada (fortnight) campaign, cleanliness programmes are conducted in various stations, colonies, workshops and depots in all the six divisions of Southern Railway as part of ‘Swachh Rail-Swachh Bharat’ mission
One such cleanliness program was conducted yesterday 19th September 2020 at the Signal and Telecommunication (S&T) workshop, Perambur.
The cleanliness programme at the Signal and Telecom Workshop at Perambur was led by Shri R.Baskaran, Principal Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer, Southern Railway. All the staff of the workshop actively participated in the drive, collecting and removing trashes and garbage along with dried leaves from the premises. Entire premises posed a neat and clean appearance at the end of the drive.
Owing to the pandemic situation, the entire premises was fumigated and bleaching powder was sprinkled at high risk spots like drainages, washbasins and toilets. All covid19 safety precautions were ensured during the cleanliness drive.
