Chennai Egmore- Madurai (in both directions) section speed increased from 100 to 110 kmph



Southern Railway has taken commendable efforts in increasing the speed in Chennai Egmore – Madurai  (in both directions) from existing 100 kmph to 110 kmph. This has been authorized by Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) after conducting inspection in the section. All observations made by the CRS during the inspection has been complied with after undertaking various track improvement works and after conducting several speed trials in that section.

With this the sectional speed in Chennai Egmore- Madurai (in both directions) has increased from 100 kmph to 110 kmph for passenger carrying trains. Necessary advice shall be given to Loco running staff and guards through internal communication for running of trains at 110 kmph.
