Subway in lieu of LC No.34 at Gummidipundi

Prioritizing the Safety of train operations, Ministry of Railways set the target for elimination of all Unmanned Level Crossings in the Broad Gauge Network of Indian Railways by September, 2018.

Chennai – Gummidipundi - Gudur, the North Eastern Line of Chennai Suburban Corridor is witnessing heavy passenger traffic over the years. Due to the development of residential areas, trespassing of tracks has increased manifold. Road traffic near the Level Crossings gets stranded whenever Level Crossings are kept closed.

As Chennai - Gudur route falls under Group 'A' category, Railway Board, vide Pink Book 2015-16, sanctioned the work of a Limited Use Subway at a cost of Rs.2.13 Crores.  A  Limited Use Subway has thus been constructed in lieu of LC No. 34 at Km 45I3032 at Gummidipundi yard in Chennai - Gudur section.  The new Subway will ease traffic congestion by providing an hassle-free passage for pedestrians, two wheelers and light vehicles.

New Booking Office at Akkampet Railway Station

Akkampet Railway Station is located between Sullurupeta station and Tada stationin Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh.  As Tirupati Railway station and Airport is proximate, Akkampet Railway Station witnesses steady inflow of commuters.  For the benefit of passengers, a New booking office equipped with toilet facilities for staff has been constructed at Akkampet Railway Station.
