Southern Railway RPF personnel bags Police Medal for Meritorious Service

Shri. N. M. Mahesh Kumar, IPF/CIB/HQRS/SR has been nominated for the prestigious Police Medal for Meritorious Services.The award will be conferred on the occasion of Independence Day 2018.


N. M. Mahesh Kumar was appointed as Sub-Inspector/Executive in RPF in the year 1996. After completion of initial training at Jagjivan Ram RPF Academy, Lucknow , he was posted to Katpadi, where he was instrumental in registration & filing Charge sheets in more than 25 cases under Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act and over 2000 cases under various sections under Railways Act. Besides, he executed many non-bailable warrantsover a period of 5 years. At Chennai Central Station, he successfully conducted inquiries in cases involving shortage of booked consignment and he settled more than 50 claims cases of Southern Railway involving booked consignment there by rebutting false claims to the tune of several lakhs of rupees.

During his stint at Anti Corruption Branch of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Chennai in 2007, he successfully investigated more than 30 cases, including high profile cases ordered by Hon’ble High Courts. He rendered appreciable service at Internal Vigilance Group (IVG) in RPF/S.Rly/HQ, Chennai where he conducted many surprise checks o­n vigilance angle o­n train escorts, Outposts and Posts which resulted remarkable improvement in day to day functioning.

In appreciation of his dedication and sincerity towards work,                              Shri. N. M. Mahesh Kumar, IPF/CIB/HQRS/SR has been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Services o­n the occasion of Independence Day 2018.
