THIS DEEPAVALI, SOUTHERN RAILWAY TO RUN MORE THAN 60 SERVICES ON 12 SECTORS INCLUDING VANDE BHARAT SPECIAL SERVICES BETWEEN CHENNAI AND TIRUNELVELI OTHER ZONE TRAINS SERVE SR DESTINATIONS WITH 36 SERVICES


Deepavali Season 2023 will see Southern Railway run more than 60 services of SPECIAL TRAINS o­n 12 sectors to clear extra rush and for the benefit of passengers travelling to different parts of the country to celebrate the festival occasion.The major destinations/routes connected will be the Chennai/Tambaram – Tirunelveli/Nagercoil sector, Chennai – Coimbatore/Mangaluru sector and the , Kochuveli – SMVT Bengaluru, among others. 

So far, 60 services of Special trains for Deepavali Festival have been earmarked by Southern Railway in the following sectors:-

Chennai – Nagercoil – Chennai  (11 services)  Chennai – Tirunelveli – Chennai (8 services) Kochuveli – SMVT – Kochuveli ( 4 services) Chennai – Santragachi – Chennai         ( 6 services) Chennai – Bhubhaneshwar – Chennai (6 services) Nagercoil – SMVT – Nagercoil (6 services) Ernakulam – Dhanbad (1 service) Nagercoil – Mangaluru Jn (3 services) Mangaluru – Nagercoil (3 services) Chennai – Mangaluru – Chennai (6 services) Tirunelveli – Chennai (6 services)  

These Deepavali special trains will provide enhanced connectivity during the season for the Southern States of Tamil Nadu and Kerala as well as with other important destinations across the country. Some of the Services from Tambaram – Nagercoil - Mangalore and back from Mangalore to Tambaram via Nagercoil connect the states like seamlessly. Further, other zonal Railways have notified 36 services of Diwali special trains covering destinations in Southern Railway.

Deepavali Special Vande Bharat Services

A pair of Vande Bharat Deepavali Special services will be operated in Chennai Egmore - Tirunelveli – Chennai Egmore Sector o­n 09th November, 2023 (Thursday)  to cater to extra rush during Deepavali Festival. Accordingly, Train No. 06067 Chennai Egmore - Tirunelveli  Vande Bharat Special will leave Chennai Egmore at 06.00 hrs o­n 09th November, 2023 (Thursday) and reach Tirunelveli at 14.15 hrs , the same day (1 Service) In the return direction, Train No. 06068 Tirunelveli – Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Special will leave Tirunelveli at 15.00 hrs o­n 09th November, 2023 (Thursday) and reach Chennai Egmore at 23.15 hrs, the same day.
