Hon’ble PM launched the 10th tranche of Rozgar Mela – recruitment drive today Events held in four locations in SR – 695 new recruits received appointment letters


Rozgar Mela – recruitment drive is a flagship programme launched in October 2022 to provide job opportunities for 10 lakh youth in various Central Govt Ministries/departments. Today  (28.10.2023), in the 10th tranche of Rozgar Mela, more than 51000 new recruits from across 37 locations pan India received their letters of appointment for various Central government jobs. The Prime Minister addressed the new appointees o­n the occasion and urged them to effectively contribute to Nation building.

Rozgar Mela events in Southern Railway

Southern Railway organized the Rozgar Mela programmes in Chennai and Tiruchchirappalli (Tamil Nadu) and in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad (Kerala). 695 fresh recruits received the appointment letters at each of the above locations for induction in various posts in Central Govt. Ministries/Departments.

Dr. L. Murugan, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, participated in the function held in Tiruchirappalli at Multi-disciplinary Zonal Training Institute, Trichy.  The Minister interacted with the new appointees and distributed appointment letters to 25 personnel who are among the 125 new appointees (out of which 100 are Railway recruits) who received the appointment letters in Trichy today.

At Thiruvananthapuram, the Rozgar Mela was held at Rail Kalyana Mandapam, Thampanoor. Ms. Pratima Bhoumik, Hon’ble Union Minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment participated and distributed the appointment letters to 25 personnel among 135 appointees (out of which 95  are Railway recruits) who received their appointment letters in Thiruvananthapuram.  The Minister also interacted with the new recruits.

At Palakkad,  Ms. Shobha Karandlaje, Hon’ble Union Minister of state for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare participated and distributed the appointment letters to 25 personnel among 195 (out of which 171 are Railway recruits) appointees who received their appointment letters at Rail Kalyana Mandapam, Palakkad.  The Minister also interacted with the new recruits.

Shri R.N. Singh, General Manager, Southern Railway participated in the function held in Chennai at Dr. Ambedkar Arangam, Konnur High Road ICF Colony, Chennai.  The General Manager distributed appointment letters to 25 personnel who are among the 240 new appointees (out of which 182 are Railway recruits) who received the appointment letters in Chennai today.

Shri Kaushal Kishore, Additional General Manager, Shri Harikrishnan, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Shri B. Viswanath Eerya, DRM, Chennai participated in the Rozgar Mela events held in Chennai. Divisional Railway Managers of Palakkad, Thiruvananthapuram and Tiruchchirappalli participated in the events held in their respective venues.  Senior officials from other Central Govt. departments such as Finance, Postal & Teletraph, ISRO, Banks, Border Security Force, CRPF, Department of Posts, Geographical Survey of India, attended the Rozgar events held in all the four locations in Southern Railway. 

The appointees expressed happiness about joining Central Govt jobs and serving the Nation.  They also gave positive feedback about the transparent, simplified and tech-enabled selection process.

Selfie standees were placed at the event venues and the new appointees enthusiastically posed for photographs with their appointment letters.

Rozgar Mela

Rozgar Mela is a flagship programme launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister to provide job opportunities for the youth and ensuring welfare of citizens. As per the directions of the Prime Minister, all Ministries and Departments are working towards filling up existing vacancies against sanctioned posts in Mission Mode.The entire target of providing 10 lakh jobs will be completed in a time bound manner.

Recruitment will take place across 38 Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and their PSUs/Autonomous Bodies etc.  Recruitments are being made by Ministries/Departments either by themselves or through Recruiting agencies such as UPSC, Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Recruitment for Railways is done by Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC). SSC is the major recruitment agency for central government posts
