Recently, the media has been circulating reports suggesting that the punctuality of other trains in Kerala, including Rajdhani Express, is being impacted by the introduction of Vande Bharat trains between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod. In this connection, the following facts are offered as clarification:
While introducing T.No.20633/20634 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express, the T.No. 16302 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Shoranur Venad Express was also speeded up as its scheduled departure time from Thiruvananthapuram Central was rescheduled from 05.15 hrs to 05.25 hrs but its arrival time at Ernakulam and Shoranur stations remains the same.
While introducing T.No.20631/20632 Vande Bharat Expresswhich runs via single line section between Ernakulam – Ambalapuzha (69 Kms), the scheduled crossing had to be given for two passenger trains, running between Ernakulam and Allapuzha namely Train no: 06452 (Alappuzha – Ernakulam Jn Passenger) and Train no: 06451 (ErnakulamJn- Kayankulam Passenger) and they have also been speeded up. Train no:06452 (Alappuzha – Ernakulam Jn Passenger) has been rescheduled to start from Alappuzha at 18:00 and yet it reaches the destination at its old timing at 19:35 and thus speeding up by 20 minutes. Similarly Train no:06451 (Ernakulam Jn – Alappuzha) is to be rescheduled to start from Ernakulam Jn at 18:25 and yet it reaches the destination at its old timing at 21:05 and thus speeding up by 20 minutes.
Train No.12075 Kozhikode – Thiruvananthapuram Janshatabdi Express has a scheduled crossing at Chertalai, despite that, it reaches Thiruvananthapuram at its scheduled arrival time of 21.25 hrs. Thus, there is no delay in running of this train on account of Vande Bharat.
Rajdhani Express is a prestigious train of Indian Railways connecting state capital Thiruvananthapuram with National Capital and Railways is always committed to running this train as per schedule.
These changes are part of the Time Table which has been publicized extensively. No detention of any train is being done to give preference for running of Vande Bharat trains. During the month of October there has been comparatively an adverse impact on punctuality of trains due to incessant rain, waterlogging of pitlines in Kochuveli, landslide that occurred between Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam Section and Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercoil section. However, during the last week (20-26 October, 2023), the punctuality rate stood at 100% for T.No.16307 Alappuzha – Kannur Express, T.No. 06451 Ernakulam – Kayankulam Express special, T.No.16342 Thiruvananthapuram – Guruvayur Express, T.No.16605 Mangalore-Nagercoil Ernad Express and T.No. 16366 Nagercoil- Kottayam Express.
