Southern Railway gets three new Vande Bharat Express services
The inaugural service of Kasaragod- Thiruvananthapuram Central and Tirunelveli – Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express will be flagged off tomorrow
The inaugural special of Vijayawada – Dr MGR Chennai Central Vande Bharat Express will be accorded a warm reception at Dr MGR Chennai Central on arrival
Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister will flag off the inaugural Service of 9 Vande Bharat Express services on 24th September, 2023 (Sunday) through video conferencing. Of these, three Vande Bharat services will run in Southern Railway as given below:
lKasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Central-KasaragodVande Bharat Express, the second exclusive Vande Bharat Express for the state of Kerala.
lTirunelveli – Chennai Egmore- Tirunelveli Vande Bharat Express, the first such premium service connecting the Southern cities of Tamil Nadu with Chennai.
lVijayawada - Dr MGR Chennai Central – Vijayawada Vande Bharat Express, the first Vande Bharat connecting Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu via Renigunta.
The inaugural specials of the above three Vande Bharat services will commence their maiden journeys from Kasaragod, Tirunelveli and Vijayawada respectively after the flagging off by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 24th September 2023. Further, Ceremonial functions will be held at enroute railway stations as well at the destination stations, where a warm reception will be accorded to the prestigious service by elected representatives, rail passengers, railway officials, students, and general public.
The indigenously manufactured Vande Bharat Express is redefining rail travel experience in our country. In order to provide an opportunity to children, rail enthusiasts and general public to get a glimpse of the prestigious train service, the inaugural special of Kasaragod - Thiruvananthapuram Central Vande Bharat Express will have stoppages at nominated railway stations enroute. Souvenir passes for travel in the inaugural special Vande Bharat Express have been issued to identified dignitaries and identified cross sections of society including school children and media. General public are welcome to join the festivities at the enroute stations during the inaugural run.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India will flag off Kasaragod –Thiruvananthapuram Central Vande Bharat Express via Alappuzha on 24.09.2023.
The inaugural service, with a composition of 8 Vande Bharat coaches, will run as a Special leaving Kasaragod Jn. at 12.30 hrs on 24.09.2023.

The regular service of Train No. 20677/20678 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Vijayawada – Dr MGR Chennai Central Vande Bharat Express will commence operations on and from 25th September 2023 as detailed below:
Train No. 20677 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Vijayawada Vande Bharat Express (except Tuesday) will depart from Dr MGR Chennai Central on and from 25th September 2023 at 05.30 hrs and reach Vijayawada at 12.10 hrs, the same day.
