One Station o­ne Product Stalls across Southern Railway gain patronage

Scheme enters into sixth phase of its implementation today with XX numbers of products across various Stations of Southern Railway

Rs. 1.20 Crores earned as cumulative revenue by local artisans, weavers and Craftsmen in last five phases of the scheme


The ‘One Station o­ne Product’ scheme launched by Southern Railway has gained patronage and five phases of the ambitious initiative have been successfully completed so far.  The zone launched the first spell of the Sixth Phase today (8th July 2022) at 89 stations with variety of products displayed for promotion and sale across its six divisions.


In the first spell of Phase VI, products such as palm products, textiles, Palani Panchamritham, Srivilliputhur palgova etc. will feature in OSOP stalls at various railway stations providing an opportunity for the passengers to buy locally renowned, indigenous handicraft products, Textiles and Handlooms, local agricultural produce, etc.,


The pilot scheme which was launched from 25.03.2022 in Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MGR Chennai Central has proliferated into 53 stations at the conclusion of its fifth spell and has now reached 89 stations in its Sixth spell. A cumulative revenue of Rs. 1,20,85,362 was registered by the OSOP outlets in Southern Railway till 07.07.2022 spanning across five phases of its implementation and thus serving as source of livelihood for local artisans, weavers and craftsmen who had set up these outlets.


Southern Railway’s endeavour to identify and promote indigenous products of local fame has received wide acclaim with the o­ne Station o­ne Product Kanchipuram Silk Saree Stall at Dr MGR Chennai Central topping the pan-India list of OSOP stalls registering highest turnover.

   The outlet registered Rs.55,57,605 till 7th July 2022, the conclusion of fifth spell, with an average sale of Rs.52,000 per day.  Sungudi Saree Stall at Madurai, another Kanchipuram Silk Saree Stall at Chennai Egmore, Palm Product Stalls at Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur also featured in the top 10 list.


Southern Railway has identified 483 stations for the launch of OSOP Scheme in the subsequent phases.  These stations will be part of the initiative to be launched across 5000 stations over Indian Railways.


One Station o­ne Product Scheme


ONE STATION o­nE PRODUCT – OSOP scheme was announced by the Hon’ble Finance Minister in the budget 2022-23. It is a scheme envisaged to popularise and encourage local business and supply chain. A scheme to provide enhanced livelihood and skill development to artisans, craftsmen, potters, weavers, tribals etc.


Railway Board has notified the policy for implementation of “One Station o­ne Product” Scheme vide Commercial Circular no.12 of 2022 on 20.05.2022.  The PAN India launch of OSOP scheme at around 5000 stations is likely to be done around the first week of September, 2022.


OSOP sale outlets at the identified stations will have distinctive look, feel and logo.  This selling outlet has been conceptualized by the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, and development of the detailed design and the working prototype are under process.
