Due to heavy rains and gusty winds in the Chennai area and vicinity from midnight of 09.05.2022, the operation of train services was affected in all four suburban sections. The services of 18 Mail/Express and 22 EMU trains were disrupted due to OHE failure and minor signal glitches.
This OHE and signal problems have been restored in a quick span of time with the efforts taken by Chennai Division Officers and staff worked throughout the night and with the support and continued monitoring of the situation by our General Manager, Shri B.G.Mallya, despite being on an official tour to Salem. Shri Ganesh, DRM Chennai monitored the situation from midnight in the control room until the issue was resolved.
Owing to the concerted efforts of the team of Officials round the clock, Chennai suburban services were restored in minimum possible time as given below:
Chengalpattu – Villupuram section – (00:40 hrs) services restored at 02:15 hrs
Chennai Central - Sullurupeta section - (04:30 hrs) services restored at 06:10 hrs
Chennai Beach - Chengalpattu section - (07:20 hrs) services restored at 07:50 hrs
Chennai Central - Arakkonam section - (06:50 hrs) services restored at 08:25 hrs
