Southern Railway launches fortnight long Special Cleanliness campaign Thematic drives focusing on cleanliness to be held all over the zone

 Southern Railway has been channelizing its efforts to achieve sustainable improvement in the cleanliness arena .  This year, a fortnight long special cleanliness drive,’Swachhata Pakhwada’ has been launched today, 16th September 2021.  Shri John Thomas, General Manager, Southern Railway inaugurated the special cleanliness drive by administering Swachhata Pledge virtually to the Officers and staff of Headquarters.  

Environment & Housekeeping Management (EnHM) wing of Southern Railway Headquarters functioning under the aegis of Shri S.Srinivas, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer organised a rally to promulgate the message of ‘“No to Single Use Plastic”  among  employees and rail users.  Bharat Scouts and Guides also participated in the rally and also held mime show to create awareness. 

Southern Railway and its divisions will organise various theme based cleanliness drives and campaigns during the Cleanliness fortnight with the help of  NGOs, Scouts & Guides and volunteers.  Employees will contribute to the drive by cleaning their workspace and participating in various awareness programmes.  Intensive cleanliness drives focusing o­n ‘fill the dustbin’, anti-littering,plastic waste management, etc. will be held apart from regular inspections by Officers and Supervisors in trains and railway stations. 

All the divisions and workshops of Southern Railway also launched Special Cleanliness drive today and Swachhta pledge was administered to Railway employees Divisional Offices and other establishments.

Southern Railway appeals to  rail users to join hands with Railways in maintaining higher standards of cleanliness in trains, railway stations and tracks.
