Operation of new Data centre for Passenger Reservation System (PRS)/ Unreserved Ticketing (UTS) at Chennai in new location on 2nd Floor at MMC Building

Indian Railway Manages Passenger Reservation System (PRS)/Unreserved Ticketing (UTS) through 4 data centers located at New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. The Chennai data centre caters to three Railway Zones namely Southern Railway, South Central Railway and South Western Railway. Now new data centre is being commissioned at Chennai and hence o­n account of this down-times will be experienced by Railway Department users, passengers and common public. During this down time there will be few restrictions in the PRS/UTS and in IRCTC Website. The day wise restriction that are likely to be experienced are listedbelow

Day 1

Date: 25.08.2021 (Wednesday)

Time : 00.15 hrs to 04.15 hrs (4 hours) Repercussion due to downtime:

(1)Ticketing/enquiries at Counters over Southern Railway, South Central Railway and South Western Railway will not beavailable

(2)IRCTC Website/Internet Ticketing will not be available for trains originating from Southern Railway, South Central Railway and South WesternRailway

(3)Booking of Parcels by Parcel Management System (PMS) and booking of Retiring Rooms o­n line will not be available for Southern Railway and South Western Railway

(4)Unreserved Ticketing (UTS) will continue to beavailable

Day 2

Date: 27.08.2021 (Friday)

Time : 00.15 hrs to 05.00 hrs (4 hours 45 Minutes) Repercussion due to downtime:

(1)Ticketing/enquiries will not be available at PRS counters of Southern Railway and South WesternRailway

(2)Normal ticketing will be available through IRCTC website; and over counters in South CentralRailway

(3)Unreserved Ticketing (UTS) will be available asusual

(4)Booking of Parcels by PMS; and booking of Retiring Rooms o­nline will not be available for Southern Railway and South WesternRailway

Day 3 to Day 5

Date: 28.08.2021(Saturday), 29.08.2021(Sunday) and 30.08.2021(Monday) Time: From 23.45 hrs to 02.00 hrs (2 Hours 15 Minutes) o­n all 3 days Repercussion due to downtime:

(1)During the down-times of 2 hours 15 minutes o­n each night, PRS Counters and Internet ticketing and enquiries will not be available for Southern Railway, South Central Railway and South WesternRailway

(2)At other times, full complement of services will be available from Disaster Recovery site at counters and o­nInternet

(3)UTS services will be continuouslyavailable

In view of this downtime, passengers are requested to make their booking in advance where ever possible. The inconvenience caused in this regard is regretted
