Following the nationwide lockdown and suspension of all passenger train carrying services in the month of March last year, Southern Railway had introduced special trains from 1stJuly 2020. And, based on the COVID situation in the country and in accordance with the lockdown guidelines issued by Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India and State governments, Southern Railway had scaled up the train services in a phased manner during the second half of the year 2020. This year,due to second wave of the pandemic, lockdown were imposed in several states including Tamil Nadu and Kerala. on account of this, train services witnessed poor patronage which necessitated cancellation of some special trains. Now, considering the relaxation in lockdown guidelines issued by various states and the demand for travel amongst general public,the cancelled train services are being resumed in a phased manner.
Southern Railway is running 376 number of mail/express special trains as on date.The list of trains which are now being run is shared herewith for ready reference of the traveling public. The list has been uploaded into http://sr.indianrailways.gov.in and it is valid upto 30-6-2021. The list only contains the train services that are being run now. Details such as timings, stoppages and frequency of the services may be checked from IRCTC website.
It may be stated that all train services are being run taking into the demand for travel and COVID situation in the country and hence the pattern of train services are likely to change at short notice. Hence passengers who intend to book their journeys are requested to check the IRCTC website or enquire at the nearest railway station.
