General Manager appeals to rail users to avoid sharing old and fake videos Strict adherence of COVID appropriate behaviour among Rail users stressed

Shri John Thomas, General Manager, Southern Railway convened a Press Meet today, the 9th of April 2021 through virtual means.  Shri B.G.Mallya, Additional General Manager, Ms.Neenu Ittyerah. Principal Chief Operations Manager, Shri S.Subramanian Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai Division, other Senior Officials of Chennai Division and members of Press & Media attended the Press Meet. 

Speaking at the meet, Shri John Thomas, General Manager appealed not to believe in rumours doing rounds in social media o­n overcrowding at railway stations. In this light, he requested public and rail users to avoid sharing old videos and false reports.

General Manager pointed out that to ensure safe travel amid the pandemic situation,  Southern Railway is currently running over 75% of Mail/Express trains.  More train services will be announced in a phased manner, he added.  He mentioned that to avoid crowding at Suburban railway stations, the time restriction for travel during peak hours  in Chennai shall continue to be in force.

General Manager appealed to rail users and general public to follow COVID appropriate behavior such as wearing of masks at railway stations and o­nboard trains.  He requested rail passengers to refrain from travel if they experience any COVID symptoms such as fever, cough, etc. so that others, especially their co-passengers are not exposed to the virus.
