Rozgar Mela – recruitment drive is a flagship programme launched in October 2022 to provide job opportunities for 10 lakh youth in various Central Govt Ministries/departments. Today (12th July, 2025), in the 16th tranche of Rozgar Mela, more than 51000 new recruits received their letters of appointment for various Central government jobs. The Prime Minister virtually addressed the new appointees on the occasion and urged them to actively contribute to Nation building.
The 16th Rozgar Mela was held at 47 locations across the country. The recruitments took place across Central Government Ministries and Departments. The new recruits, selected from across the country, will be joining the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts,Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Labour &Employment among other departments and ministries.
Rozgar Mela events in Southern Railway
As the nodal agency, Southern Railway organized the Rozgar Mela programmes in Madurai (Tamil Nadu) and in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad (Kerala) whereas in Chennai, the Integral Coach Factory was the nodal agency. 552 fresh recruits received the appointment letters at each of the above locations for induction in various posts in Central Govt. Ministries/Departments.
Dr. L. Murugan, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, participated in the function held in Chennai at the ICF Dr Ambedkar Arangam. The Minister interacted with the new appointees and distributed appointment letters to 25 personnel who are among the 285 new appointees of various Central Govt. ministries (out of which 118 are Railway recruits). Shri U. Subba Rao, General Manager, Integral Coach Factory, Officers and staff of ICF and Southern Railway participated in the function.
In the function held at the Rail Kalyana Mandapam in Madurai, Shri Sharad Srivastava, Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai distributed appointment letters to 25 personnel who are among the 86 new appointees of various Central Govt. ministries (out of which 30 are Railway recruits).
At Thiruvananthapuram, the Rozgar Mela was held at Rail Kalyana Mandapam, Thampanoor. Dr Manish Thaplyal, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram distributed the appointment letters to 25 personnel among 93 appointees (out of which 54 are Railway recruits).
At Palakkad, Shri Arun Kumar Chaturvedi distributed the appointment letters to 25 personnel among 88 (out of which 80 are Railway recruits) at the Rail Kalyana Mandapam, Palakkad.
Senior officials from Railways and other Central Govt. departments such as Finance, Postal & Telegraph, ISRO, Banks, Border Security Force, CRPF, Department of Health, Geographical Survey of India, attended the Rozgar events held in all the four locations in Chennai, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad.
The appointees expressed happiness about joining Central Govt jobs and serving the Nation. They also gave positive feedback about the transparent, simplified and tech-enabled selection process.
Selfie booths were placed at the event venues and the new appointees enthusiastically posed for photographs with their appointment letters.
Rozgar Mela
Rozgar Mela is a step towards fulfilment of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s commitment to accord highest priority to employment generation. The Rozgar Mela will play a significant role in providing meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and participation in nation building.
