Southern Railway Observes 11th International Yoga Day


Southern Railway observed the 11th International Yoga Day today, the 21st June, 2025 through a series of events conducted across the Zone.

Shri Kaushal Kishore, Additional General Manager, Southern Railway inaugurated the Yoga Day Celebrations at the Railway Officers Club at Nungambakkam, Chennai.   The Principal Heads of Departments of Southern Railway and Shri B. Viswanath Eerya, Divisional Railway Manager of Chennai Division participated in a brief Yoga Session.

The Yoga Day Programme, organised by the Personnel Branch under the leadership of Shri Harikrishnan, Principal Chief Personnel Officer witnessed enthusiastic participation by a large number of Officers and Staff. Guided by Eminent Yoga Teachers, the participants demonstrated the yogasanas enlisted in the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) issued by the Ministry of Ayush.  The participants practised some of the fundamental postures such as Tadasana, Vrksasana, Bhadrasana, Vajrasana, Trikonasana, etc. with great zeal and dedication.

All the six divisions of Southern Railway, i.e, Chennai, Tiruchchirappalli, Madurai, Salem, Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram and the Workshops of Southern Railway namely, Perambur Carriage Works, Loco Works and the Golden Rock Workshop along with S&T Workshop, Podanur and Loco Sheds at Erode, Royapuram & Arakkonam also organised various activities as part of International Yoga Day. Officers and staff of the divisions and Workshops actively participated in the Yoga Day events organized at the respective divisional headquarters and other work places.

Recognising the importance of holistic well-being, Southern Railway advocates continuous yoga practice for its employees through dedicated yoga teams formed at headquarters and across divisions.

The Global theme of 11th International Yoga Day 2025 is "Yoga for o­ne Earth, o­ne Health"The theme highlights the deep connection between individual well-being and the health of our planet.

Indian Railways observes Yoga Day every year under the guidance of the Ministry of Ayush.
