Swift Action taken by Railway Protection Force(RPF) & Govt. Railway Police (GRP) in the light of unfortunate incident of assault on lady Train Manger (TMR) of Coaching Special Train at Home Signal of Madurai Railway Station on 29.04.2024.

On the evening of 29th April 2024 while a lady Train Manager was performing her Railway duty in passenger coaching special train from Salem to Tirunelveli while the train was approaching Madurai Junction home signal in slow run, two outsiders entered the guard van and assaulted the Train Manager with sickle and snatched her mobile phone, causing injury.

On getting information, Madurai Railway Protection Force Personnel and & Madurai Govt Railway Police Personnel swiftly swung into action and quickly arranged medical aid to the victim and admitted her at Railway Hospital/Madurai. Further, a joint team of crime Intelligence branch, Crime Prevention & Detection Squad/RPF/ Madurai & GRP/ Madurai under the supervision of Assistant Security Commissioner/RPF Madurai and Deputy Superintendent of Railway Police/ Madurai conducted intensive search to detect the offender, and could arrest o­ne offender out of the two today o­n 30.04.2024 and recovered all the stolen articles within 24 hrs of the incident. In this connection, GRP/Madurai has registered a case in Cr.No.64/2024 invoking deterrent sections of IPC viz. U/s 353, 394, 506(II) IPC.  Efforts are in progress to arrest the second accomplice in this crime.

In order to prevent recurrence of such incidents, Regular drives will be conducted against such unsocial elements loitering in and around Railway Station/System by joint teams of RPF/Rly police at vulnerable locations, and Deployment of  women RPF staff exclusively for the safety of lady commuters/women employees in Railway system will be made.
