THREE SOUTHERN RAILWAY TRAINS EXTENDED



Honourable Minister of Railway, announced extension of three trains over Sothern Railway for the benefit of Rail passengers.

The extension of the two Mail/Express services will provide better connectivity from important destinations of Tamil Nadu to Eastern and Western parts of India.  The intra-railway MEMU service extension will benefit the people of Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. The details of the three services extended is detailed below:

1.Train No.  22604 / 22603 Villupuram – Kharagpur - Villupuram Express (Bi-Weekly) express has been extended upto Purulia (West Bengal) with additional stoppages at Hijli, Midnapore, Bishnupur, Bankura and Adra.

2.Train No. 22632 / 22631 Chennai – Bikanir – Chennai Anuvrat Weekly Express has been extended to commence from Madurai with additional stoppages at Chennai Egmore (instead of Chennai Central), Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Ariyalur, Srirangam, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul and Kodaikanal Road.

3.Train No. 66019 / 66020 Salem – Katpadi – Salem MEMU local is extended upto Arakkonam with additional stoppages at Mukundarayapuramm, Walajah Road and Sholingur.

Date of Extension and scheduled timings of the above three train services will be notified later.

Extension of 22 pairs of train services Running o­n Indian Railways system:

Indian Railways proposes to extend 22 pairs of train services running o­n Indian Railways’ system.  These will provide additional connectivity between various places in the country.

All these extensions have been planned by utilizing the lie-over periods of the existing trains at their respective terminating stations.  These extensions will help in more gainful utilization of Coaching Stock and will augment revenue of Indian Railways. The above trains are extended using present assets with maximum utilization.
