INTER RAILWAY CULTURAL COMPETITION (MUSIC) HOSTED BY SOUTHERN RAILWAY
Indian Railways constantly strives to nurture and nourish the multifarious talents of its employees. In its attempt to encourage arts and culture, competitions are held periodically in various fields, namely, Music, Dance, and Drama. This year, the music competition was hosted by Southern Railway at Chennai.
This two day ALL INDIA INTER RAILWAY CULTURAL COMPETITION 2018 FOR MUSIC on 15th and 16th November 2018 at Chennai saw 154 participants from 17 zones and 6 Production Units from all over Indian Railways taking part in two main streams of Vocal andInstrumental both Classical and Light Music Categories.
The Overall Winners Shield was bagged by CENTRAL RAILWAY and the Overall Runners Shield was bagged by CHITTARANJAN LOCOMOTIVE WORKS. Shri R.K.Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway, and Smt Mansi Kulshrestha, President, Southern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively during the function and distributed the awards to the Winners.
In the category of Classical Music (VOCAL) The Winners were Eastern Railway.
Shri Subhajit Patra, S/o Krishna Patra, Helper, Electrical/E Rly and team won the first place followed by Shri Iman Biswas, Jr Clerk, South Eastern Railway and team who won the second place. Shri Samit Mallick, Office Supdt, Personnel Branch, Northern Railway and team won the third place and Shri B.Prasanth, S/o Shri BVN Rao from Chittaranjan Locomotive Works and team won the fourth place
In the Category of Light Music (VOCAL) Chittaranjan Locomotive Works got the first place Ms Sohini Singha Majumdar, Sr Clerk, Personnel Branch, CLW and team got the first place, followed by Ms Ayushi Das, D/O Shri Jaydeb Das, Lab Supdt, North East Frontier Railway and team who won the second place. Ms Poulami Chattopadhyay, D/O Somnath Chattopadhyay, Painter, SSE Office, Purulia Jn and team got the third place and Shri S. Ananth, S/O Smt U Sreelakshmi, Personal Secretary to the Principal Chief Engineer, South Central Railway and team won the fourth place.
In the category of Instrumental (CLASSICAL) Central Railway won the first Place. Shri Satyendra Singh Solanki, Sr.Clerk, Central Railway and team got the first place. Shri Manoj Jaiswal, Accounts Clerk, Finance Office, South East Central Railway and team got the second place and Shri Ghure Sainath Mahadeo, Jr Clerk, Integral Coach Factory and Team got the third place and Shri Vipul Pandey, Office Supdt, Personnel, North Central Railway and team got the fouth place.
In the Category of Instrumental (LIGHT MUSIC) Central Railway won the first place. Shri Abishek Sinha, Jr Clerk, Central Railway and team won the first place, followed by Shri Sujoy Basu, Office Supdt, Stores, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works and team who won the second place. Shri Ravi Kumar Prajapati Track Technician, TTC, Diesel Locomotive Works and team won the third place and Shri Rajkumar Majumdar, Office Supdt, Signal and Telecom, Delhi, Northern Railway and team won the fourth place.
Three eminent persons from the Music and Performing Arts, field viz., Shri Prabhanjam S.Balachandran, Shri Srinivasa Rao, and Shri Kuldeep Sagar were the judges for the competitions.
